More Multi-Million Dollar Tenders Awarded

St. John’s, NL – Driving along the TransCanada Highway (TCH) and Pitts Memorial Drive it is clear to see that Galway is making tremendous progress, as the industrial and retail components of the development rapidly continue towards the occupation phase. Galway is a project of DewCor, and is Danny Williams’ 2,400-acre real estate project in St. John’s south end.

“We are incredibly pleased with the progress to-date, including the extraordinary amount of earth movement that really demonstrates how close we are to seeing companies and retails stores move into the area,” said Mr. Williams. “There is a significant demand for additional retail in the region. Galway is ideally and strategically located to serve both residents of St. John’s, Mount Pearl and surrounding communities as well as people coming into the city from the rest of the province. With the awarding of additional tenders worth several millions of dollars, we will see even more activity and progress in the coming weeks.”

Three new contracts have been awarded this month worth in excess of $22 million. The contracts are for work associated with the retail land and Glencrest Industrial Centre. The tenders cover work including: the development of a “right in-right out” access; mass earth works; landscaping; line painting; signage; asphalt laying and so on.

“The work associated with these tenders will ensure the land is ready to go for both our retail partners and those purchasing these prime industrial sites,” added Mr. Williams. “It will also provide easy and convenient access for users, capitalizing on the strategic location of this development. New residents who make Galway their home and existing neighbouring communities can look forward to much needed retail amenities to service the region.”

Galway is located directly off the TCH, close to both the Port of St. John’s and the International Airport. It is also adjacent to the fastest growing communities in Newfoundland and Labrador, making it a preferred location for businesses to operate.
