DewCor is owned and operated by Danny Williams – businessperson, lawyer, and former Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador. Established in 2013, DewCor has several dynamic business ventures that consist of everything from massive real estate developments, recreation and entertainment, golf courses, a professional hockey team, to charitable organizations.

United by an entrepreneurial spirit, DewCor companies are driven to take initiative, think creatively, collaborate, and innovate. Across each subsidiary, DewCor operates with a standard to expect more, developing unique opportunities and building communities where people want to live, work, and play. Danny Williams Q.C. LLB, Hon. DD.L President

A prolific and iconic individual in both the public and private sectors, Danny Williams has established himself as a business and community leader with decades of experience and an incredibly diverse and impressive portfolio. His early success in establishing the largest personal injury law firm in the province was followed by a very lucrative telecommunications career and other ventures in the fields of oil and gas, tourism, and sports. He then moved on to become the Province’s 9th Premier, serving for 8 years, during which time the province transformed to become one of the largest economic powerhouses in the country. Under his leadership, the economy experienced unprecedented growth and prosperity. Since then, Danny has stepped back from the public life and created DewCor to represent his various business interests. Today he continues to identify new opportunities in the private sector.

Justin Kendell Chief Financial Officer

Justin joined DewCor as Project Controller in January of 2016. With over twenty years’ experience in construction, manufacturing, recreation, and not-for-profit fields, he brings a diverse mix of finance and accounting experience to our team. Before joining DewCor, Justin held the position of Vice President, Finance and Administration with MAX Arts Athletics Wellness, where he played a key role in the growth of the start-up company. Justin’s prior experience includes time spent as the Controller for Pennecon Energy Ltd., the Finance Director of the YM-YWCA of St. John’s, and the Staff Accountant for Central Dairies Limited. Justin has a CPA, CMA designation and a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) degree from Memorial University.

 
Grant Horwood Chief Operating Officer

Grant is a professional engineer with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. Grant Joined Dewcor in 2023 as the Chief Operating Officer after 10 years leading a project management firm where he was involved in managing a wide breadth of construction projects from $1M road reconstruction to $200M industrial construction packages. Grant has led various construction packages on major projects in this province such the Muskrat Falls Hydroelectric development, Vale Nickle Processing facility, and the Hebron GBS. Grant has held key roles in the past such as President of Vigilant Atlantic, Director of Public Works and Engineering at the Town of Gander, and Manager of Infrastructure at the Gander International Airport. Grant’s experience is backed by a degree in Civil Engineering, and he is registered with the Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Newfoundland & Labrador.

 
Andy Carew Director of Commercial Development & Management

After years of working in the construction and property management industry, Andy joined DewCor in January of 2015. He has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team, which he developed while working as Job Site Superintendent with APM Construction, and completing projects for the Royal Bank of Canada, Canadian Tire, Loblaws, and Nova Scotia Department of Environment. He has also held the title of Operations Manager for a multi-unit residential landlord in Atlantic Canada. Andy’s experience in the industry is backed by a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) from Dalhousie University and a Construction Management Technology diploma from the Nova Scotia Community College. Andy’s management and business practices have made him a versatile and vital member of our team.

 
Heather McKay Director of Finance

Heather joined DewCor in 2011 as Director of Finance for the St. John’s IceCaps. In this role, she was instrumental in the initial structuring of the controls, accounting, and reporting for the Company. Since then, she has been involved in the set-up of several other DewCor ventures. Prior to joining DewCor, Heather worked as an auditor with Ernst & Young in both St. John’s and Bermuda. Her job experience is backed by a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) (Hons) degree from Memorial University and her Chartered Accountancy designation. Heather’s current responsibilities include overseeing the financial structuring, reporting, and regulatory requirements for DewCor.

 
Cheryl Walsh Director of Land Development

After nineteen years of working in the civil engineering industry, Cheryl joined DewCor as Project Engineer in May of 2016. Cheryl brings an essential and diverse mix of industry knowledge and technical skills to our team. Prior to joining DewCor, Cheryl worked as Project Engineer, and earlier as a Civil Engineer Technologist, with Newfoundland Design Associates Limited. Throughout her career, she has worked with multiple municipal infrastructure, site development, and hydroelectric projects. Cheryl’s experience is backed by a Bachelor of Engineering from Memorial University and a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from the College of the North Atlantic. She is a Professional Engineer, registered with the Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Newfoundland & Labrador.

 
Duncan Whitcomb Sales & Leasing Manager

As Manager, Commercial Leasing and Sales, Duncan Whitcomb brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to DewCor and the master-planned community of Galway. With proven and specialized skills in community design, green building and sustainable urban planning, Duncan’s professional and academic portfolio is as lengthy as it is varied. As an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, as well as the U.S. and Canadian Green Building Councils, Duncan has put his knowledge to good use in a variety of roles ranging from commercial brokerage to property management. Additionally, Duncan holds a Bachelor of Community Design from Dalhousie and is currently pursuing a Masters in Sustainable Urban Development at University of Oxford.

 
Michelle Budden Financial Controller

Michelle joined Dewcor as Financial Controller in September 2021. She brings a variety of financial and accounting experience in sectors such as construction, manufacturing and oil & gas as well as residential real estate and land development. Prior to joining Dewcor, Michelle spent over twelve years in progressive accounting positions within Pennecon and its group of companies, providing expertise in financial statement preparation, consolidation, project reporting, reconciliations, and cash forecasts. She has also held positions at Scotsburn Dairy Group, Canada Revenue Agency, and a private medical facility.   Michelle’s experience is backed by a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) degree from Memorial University, and she holds several ISO 9001 quality management certificates.

 
Courtney Taylor Executive Assistant

Courtney became a member of the DewCor team in January 2020 when she began her role as Executive Assistant. With an office management and legal assistant background, her skills are varied, ranging from accounting and payroll duties, to real estate, administration and human resources.  Prior to joining the team, she worked as Office Manager at Manning Bradbury and Accounting Clerk with Browning Harvey Limited. Her attention to detail and ability to work well in a fast-paced environment serves her well in this valuable position.
